Nigeria’s COVID-19 Cases Rise To 81, As Disease Spreads To Enugu

Nigeria now has 81 confirmed cases of the coronavirus after 11 new cases were confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) late Friday. For the first time, the disease showed up in the country’s south-east as two cases were confirmed in Enugu state. Lagos State, which has been described as the country’s hotspot, added eight cases, bringing the state’s total caseload to 52. One other case was recorded in Edo State. Earlier on Friday, the NCDC had reported the discovery of five new cases, three in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and two in Oyo state. No new case was reported in Lagos. But the last announcement on Friday further strengthens Lagos’ status as the country’s hotspot. In total, 16 new cases were confirmed on Friday.

COVID-19: Real Madrid’s Stadium To Be Used As Medical Storage Centre

  Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu will be used as a storage centre for medical equipment to help Spain’s fight against the coronavirus, the club confirmed on Thursday. The 81,000-seater stadium will house donations made by businesses and organisations, particularly those that work in the sports sector, before passing them onto the Spanish health authorities. “Real Madrid, in collaboration with the High Council for Sport (CSD), has launched a project in Madrid to supply and distribute strategic medical supplies to be used in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic,” read a club statement. It added: “All of the stored supplies will be passed on to the Spanish health authorities, under the authority of the Spanish government, so that the resources, which are so necessary in the current health emergency situation, are employed in the best and most efficient manner.” Spain had recorded more than 4,000 deaths due to the virus, according to the latest figures on Thursday. COVID-19: Buhari Approves Immediate Release Of N15bn To Lagos, NCDC

In a series of tweets on Thursday, the President explained that the approval followed the extensive briefings he received recently on the state of the nation, as it relates to the Covid-19 pandemic. He ordered that the sum of N10 billion grant be immediately released to Lagos State to boost the government’s capacity to control and contain the outbreak, as well as support other states with capacity-building. Iran Reports 144 New Coronavirus Deaths, Raising Total To 2,378

In the audio, a lady narrated how the alleged trip was arranged, claiming that she got the information about it from her friend whose husband is the pilot contacted to fly President Buhari and Mr. Kyari abroad. COVID-19: NPA Faults NCDC On Cases ‘Detected On Vessel’

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has faulted the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC)’s discovery of six new cases of coronavirus on a vessel.
