KINDLY SHARE THIS STORY Sule Peter Dada, Akure The Ondo State Police Command, on Thursday, paraded some suspected criminals arrested for allegedly terrorising residents of the state in recent times. The suspects were paraded at the headquarters of the command in Akure. One of the suspects, Idris Sule, was arrested for being in possession of human parts. He was alleged to have severed the head and arms of a yet-to-be identified man in Isua Akoko, headquarters of the Akoko South East Local Government Area of the state, and kept the parts in his house at Shinabole village in the Ose Local Government Area. Hardship forced me into robbery, says Imo poly student

KINDLY SHARE THIS STORY Agonwu Chukwudi Akasike, Port Harcourt A student of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, Promise Agonwu, has explained that he went into armed robbery because he could no longer cope with the hardship in the country. Agonwu, who is an OND 2 student, was one of the six suspected cultists and armed robbers paraded in Port Harcourt on Wednesday by the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Dandaura. It was gathered that the suspect was arrested alongside another member of his robbery gang in a forest in Etche. KINDLY SHARE THIS STORY Olanrewaju Daud Olatunji, Abeokuta A 40-year old man, Olanrewaju Adeyinka, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly stabbing his younger brother, Gabriel, to death with a window louvre for bringing two life parrots home. Olanrewaju was paraded on Thursday alongside 48 other suspected criminals by the state Commissioner of Police, Kenneth Ebrimson, at the state command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta. The suspects were apprehended for various offences, including murder, robbery and kidnapping, among others. While speaking with journalists, Olanrewaju said he mistakenly stabbed his brother, who brought two strange parrots into their home in the Ilaro area of the state. The suspect explained that a fight ensued between them after Gabriel refused to take the birds out of the house. UPDATED: Ghana, Kenya, Gabon record first cases of coronavirus

Kenya, Ghana, and Gabon, on Friday, reported their first confirmed cases of infection with the new coronavirus. In East Africa, Kenya reported one case on Friday, while in West Africa, Ghana reported two cases just as Gabon said it had logged one case. This, however, raised the total number of African countries affected by the pandemic to 15. According to Kenyan Health Minister, Mutahi Kagwe, the patient is a Kenyan citizen who had recently travelled to the US. The Gabonese Health Ministry said that the infected person in Gabon was a national who had returned from a trip to Bordeaux, France on March 8. The ministry added that Gabonese authorities were in the process of tracing all contacts the patient had since his arrival in the capital, Libreville. According to the Ghanaian Health Ministry, both infected individuals returned from Norway and Turkey. Covid-19: Davido suspends North American tour

Mega music super star, Davido has cancelled his ongoing tour of North America because of the rampaging Coronavirus outbreak. The novel coronavirus has infected more than 125,000 people and killed over 4,600 globally, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) forcing the agency to declare the outbreak a pandemic. The outbreak forced Davido to postpone his AGT tour of North America which he embarked on to promote his ‘A Good Time’ album. The tour commenced on February 28 and was planned to run till April 11 with 22 shows across major cities in Canada and  United States, including New York and Atlanta. The Skelewu crooner had already taken in sold out shows some major cities including Vancouver, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Court orders Sanusi’s release from confinement

By Eric Ikhilae, Abuja A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the immediate release of dethroned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi from confinement/detention. Justice Anwuli Chikere made the order in an ex-parte ruling on Friday morning after listening to lawyer to Sanusi, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) who argued a motion ex-parte to that effect. The order, made interim, is directed at the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Attorney General of Kano State and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) – who are all named as respondents in a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed on March 12, 2020 by Sanusi. Justice Chikere, in the ruling, said: “An interim order of this honourable court releasing the applicant from the detention and or confinement of the respondents and restoring the applicant’s rights to human dignity, personal liberty, freedom of association and movement in Nigeria, (apart from Kano State)
